Family operated and homegrown are the best ways to describe Total Floor Covering and its' history.

In 1968 Bruce & Carol Ladewig founded Statewide Carpets in a small storefront on Wisconsin Avenue. After three years, Bruce & Carol decided to move their business to their home, in order to make it easier to raise their family. They began to receive semi-truck shipments to their house and used the garage as the warehouse. The business operated this way for over 15 years. Bruce sold and installed, while Carol kept all the books and raised the family.

After many years of running a successful business out of their home, Bruce & Carol moved their business to a location on Richmond St, under the new name Total Floor Covering

Total Floor Covering outgrew its' Richmond St location after a mere 3 years.

So, in 1990 construction began at the new location in an area that was surrounded by fields and only 1 other building on a dead end street.

17 years and several additions later, Total Floor Covering is surrounded by many commercial and retail buildings on a main thoroughfare in Appleton. 600 Westhill Blvd.

Total Floor Covering has evolved in many ways and continues to go through metamorphosis. In 2006, Shane Lathrop, Bruce and Carol's son-in-law, became the 2nd generation Owner of Total Floor Covering. Bruce continues to sell part time, while Carol remains the lead bookkeeper and office personnel.
